Lip- sync 2023

27-November-23
Lip- sync 2023

The previous Lip sync performances were enjoyable; we thought they could not be improved, but the 2023 lip-sync performances were so captivating and entertaining, proving us wrong.

This year, the bar was again elevated, with what can only be described as the finest and most professional three-night extravaganza yet.

This great whole-school well-being event has become a major part of the school well-being calendar.

We had three evenings of magical performances, which provided an excellent opportunity for all Coláiste Eoin students to participate, perform and showcase their remarkable talents.

Audiences experienced the most impressive performances from all students. All the acts were introduced and expertly set at ease by teacher Ms. Nessa O’Meara.

On the judging panel was our beloved newly retired colleague Ms. Ger Dalton, who judged all three nights. On the opening night she was joined by another friend and former colleague Mr. Eddie Brennan; Caoimhe Deering "The Carlow Rose" joined the judging panel on the second night, adding a touch of glamour to the event. On the third night we had the local knowledge and experience of Mr. Johnny Kelly. The judges added to the entertainment with their impressive quick responses and humorous commentary.

The performances were meticulously choreographed by the talented, committed high-energy mother and daughter duo Caoimhe and Deirdre Byrne. Some of the group performances were so impressive that the judges likened them to professional shows they had seen in the 3 Arena.

The stage lighting on the three nights was once again remarkable and professional thanks to Mr. Ciaran Fitzgerald.

There were thirty-seven acts up for judging, and on top of that each year had their own group performance.

This was the fifth Lip-sync event for the school, where all funds raised go into various school activities and projects. The teaching staff must be commended for their own performances, stepping out of their comfort zones, and performing their own Lip-sync to “reeling in the years”.

Congratulations to Mr Costello for surviving his performance on stage as bainisteoir to St. Patricks Tullow who lost out on the cup to the local Clonmore team; teachers Mr Dan Ryan and Mr Padraig Fogarty played the part of the Clonmore lads battering our principal on stage (imitating the real performance on the football field...). This greatly added to the good humour and excitement of the three nights.

Well done to all students and their families who participated and assisted in organising this event.

A special thanks to all who contributed to the spot prizes and purchased tickets on the night. The effort and commitment of all was evident. Students had the opportunity to acquire valuable life skills of working together as a team to create these extraordinary shows.

Well done to Caoimhe and Deirdre Byrne, together with Ms. O Meara for all their dedication and hard work.

We can only anticipate what the next year's show will bring. Judging by this year's performances, we will have something special to look forward to even if it is the same excitement and joy for our students, audiences, school staff, and the entire community that they enjoyed this year.
