LCVP at Coláiste Eoin – Linking Learning to the Real World
The Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP) continues to be a popular and practical choice among senior students at Coláiste Eoin. Designed to enhance employability and enterprise skills, the LCVP combines academic study with a strong focus on the world of work, communication, and personal development.
Students participating in the programme take two link subjects from their Leaving Certificate along with core LCVP modules, which include Preparation for the World of Work and Enterprise Education. These modules encourage students to develop initiative, teamwork, and confidence while gaining valuable insight into career opportunities.
Throughout the year, our LCVP students engage in a range of work experience placements, interviews, and enterprise visits, providing hands-on learning that connects classroom theory to real-life experience. Students also take part in career investigations, action plans, and presentations, all of which help to build essential life and workplace skills.
This year, our LCVP group has been particularly active, organising fundraising events, visiting local businesses, and welcoming guest speakers who shared their insights into entrepreneurship and career pathways. These experiences help students to make informed choices about their future education and employment options.
LCVP is assessed through a Portfolio of Coursework (worth 60%) and a Written Examination (worth 40%), with students earning valuable CAO points for successful completion.
At Coláiste Eoin, we are proud to offer a programme that truly bridges education and employment, preparing our students for life beyond school.
