The Pine Autism Special Class at Coláiste Eoin Hacketstown opened in September 2025 and operates in line with Department of Education and National Council for Special Education (NCSE) guidelines.
Coláiste Eoin is committed to an inclusive and supportive approach to education, enabling students with additional educational needs to access learning within a mainstream post-primary setting where appropriate. Students enrolled in the Pine Autism Special Class are supported to engage meaningfully in mainstream lessons and whole-school activities, with reasonable accommodations and tailored supports in place in accordance with their assessed needs.
The Pine classroom provides a designated base where students can access additional teaching and care supports. These include small-group and individualised instruction, social and communication support, and programmes that promote wellbeing, independence, and self-regulation. All provision is planned and delivered in line with each student’s strengths, needs, and individual support plans.
Coláiste Eoin Hacketstown recognises and values its neurodiverse school community and works in close partnership with parents/guardians and relevant external professionals to support positive, inclusive educational outcomes for all students.
