Thursday, 11th September 2025 was a landmark day for Coláiste Eoin as brand-new laptops were successfully rolled out to our 2nd and 5th Yearstudents through our trusted partner Olive.
The uptake was fantastic:

60 Second Years and 63 Fifth Years received their own device.

Only a small number of students have yet to join the scheme, several of whom are new to our school this year.
The day began at 8:50 a.m. with 5th Years collecting their devices and receiving hands-on training, followed by 2nd Years according to a carefully planned schedule. Students arrived to class first for attendance and brought their school email and password, ensuring a smooth set-up.
Thanks to excellent planning and teamwork, Rooms 7 and 8 were transformed into vibrant laptop launch hubs. A huge thank-you to Deputy Principal Mary Hunt, Ms. O’Connor, and the Digital Committee and Mr Costello for their dedication and careful preparation, which made the day such a success.
While this rollout is a major step forward in digital learning, it is important to emphasise that physical school books remain at the heart of teaching and learning in Coláiste Eoin. Our vision is to blend the best of both worlds ,traditional books, which foster deep reading and critical thinking, and modern technology, which opens doors to creativity, research, and collaboration.
This balanced approach means our students will continue to enjoy the richness of printed texts while gaining the digital skills that will serve them well in examinations and in life beyond school.
