Students from Coláiste Eoin recently participated in a Student Voice podcast event organised by Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board, where they explored the future of education and emphasised the importance of student voices in shaping positive school communities.
The event was facilitated by Jilly McDonough, Head of PR and Communications for Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board, alongside Dr Pauline Egan, Director of Schools and former Principal of Coláiste Eoin. Throughout the session, students engaged in open and honest discussions about what is working well in their schools and the changes they would like to see in the future.
The experience gave students a valuable opportunity to represent the voices of the Coláiste Eoin student body on a wider platform and to contribute meaningfully to conversations surrounding education. Students spoke positively about feeling listened to and respected by educational leaders and decision-makers within Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board.
As part of the visit, students also toured the grounds of the Institute of Further Education, where they had the chance to speak with experienced lecturers about future educational opportunities and pathways.
The day was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved, with students particularly appreciating the opportunity to network, share their perspectives, and participate in important discussions about the future of education.
