National Flag Presentation Ceremony SETU Arena Waterford

175 Years ago the Irish National Flag was flew for the first time by Thomas F. Meagher at 33 the Mall, Waterford.

The Thomas F. Meagher foundation has worked with schools across the country for the last several years to promote Pride and Respect in the National Flag, they do this by organising days such as Flag day which is held on the 16th of March each year.

Coláiste Eoin was invited to a Ceremony on the 6th of March in the SETU arena Waterford, we were presented with the National Tri colour which had being flew from 33 The Mall, Waterford, the same place where the national flag was flew for the first time.

The ceremony was an honour to attend, with special guest An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, musicians and a presentation of the national Flag.

Students who attended the event on behalf of Coláiste Eoin were Josh and Ava Kelly, Brian and Emma Whelan, along with their parents and History Teacher Ms O'Meara.

It was an honour to attend such a historic event.
