There was a wonderful atmosphere of celebration, music and reflection in Coláiste Eoin on Friday 22nd May 2026 as students, parents and staff gathered for the Transition Year Graduation Ceremony.
The event celebrated the achievements, experiences and personal growth of the TY Class of 2026 following a busy and memorable year filled with learning, creativity, trips, performances, enterprise activities and new opportunities.
The ceremony opened beautifully with a performance of Linger by The Cranberries, sung by Emma Murphy, setting the tone for a warm and uplifting occasion. Student Corey Foley then welcomed parents, students and staff before Principal Alan Costello addressed the gathering, speaking about the many accomplishments of the TY students and the important contribution they have made to school life throughout the year.
Guests were then treated to a lively instrumental performance of Proud Mary by the talented TY students involved in Music Generation. Peter Kavanagh also performed The Marino Waltz, showcasing the musical talent within the year group.
A special slideshow and reflection on student experiences throughout the year brought plenty of laughter, memories and applause from the audience as highlights from trips, activities, work experience and school events were shared.
TY Coordinator Ms Mary Cummins also addressed the crowd, congratulating students on their engagement, enthusiasm and personal development during the programme and wishing them every success as they move forward into Senior Cycle.
A number of special awards were presented during the ceremony. Congratulations to Emma Connolly and Peter Kavanagh who were named Transition Year Students of the Year. Spirit Awards were presented to Éabha Byrne and Corey Foley in recognition of their positivity, contribution and school spirit throughout the year.
Following the ceremony, refreshments were served for all guests. A sincere thank you was extended to Home Economics teacher Ms Tompkins for organising and preparing the refreshments and to everyone involved in making the event such a memorable occasion for students and families.
The Transition Year Graduation Ceremony was a fitting celebration of a fantastic group of young people and marked the end of a very successful year for the TY Class of 2026.
