The Transition Year Programme (TYP)

The TYP year follows the Junior Certificate examination and is generally seen as the first year of a three year senior cycle. The following aims are reflected in the Transition Year programme:

  1. Education for maturity with the emphasis on personal development including social awareness and increased social competence.
  2. The promotion of general, technical and academic skills with an emphasis on interdisciplinary and self-directed learning.
  3. Education through experience of adult and working life as a basis for personal development and maturity.

The Transition Year offers students the space to learn, mature and develop.

Coláiste Eoin is very proud of the success of our Transition Year Programme. We have a strong tradition of show casing our students’ creative abilities through an annual Variety Show. Students write, direct and produce all aspects of the show, from script writing to costume making to performing.
